HARRISONBURG -- A new law in Virginia that eliminates a standard tax for gas and affects diesel drivers' wallets differently.

For instance, if you fill up your car with diesel fuel, you will pay six percent of the statewide average wholesale price of a gallon. The new fuel tax rates will fluctuate every January and July.

Currently, drivers pay 20.2 cents per gallon in tax for diesel fuel. Meanwhile, drivers pay 11.1 cents per gallon in gas tax.

However, if you own a diesel car or a truck, you may be eligible to get a refund for the difference between the two taxes.
