Staunton A fixture in downtown Staunton is calling it quits.

People in Staunton are mourning their movies as the big screen on Beverley Street fades to black; however, next door, it's lights up on a new opportunity for the Dixie.

Even though the theater won't be showing movies anymore, the Staunton Performing Arts Center said it's moving right along with its plans for a performing arts center.

Members of the board for the center, which owns the building, said they're sad the theater won't be showing movies anymore, but it gives them more latitude as they script out options for the Dixie's future.

The Dixie will stop showing movies at the end of the month and wrap up this weekend with special showings of past blockbusters.

The theater plans to show the following movies from July 24th through July 27th:
- Raiders of the Lost Ark
- E.T.
- Jaws
- Back to The Future
