AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. -- Bo is one of nearly 480 dogs taken in this year by Augusta Dog Adoptions and right now, he can be foster or adopted. Nearly 430 of those dogs have been adopted.

The program expanded its foster program and that led to 300 more adoptions in 2012 than 2011. Alisha Hammer, a volunteer, said she was glad the foster program has grown this year.

“All of the dogs in the pound just want they same thing; they just want a loving home,” said Hammer. “Just to be able to take them out of their environment and put them in a foster home until a permanent one's found is a wonderful feeling.”
