Happy Dogs Unleashed spoke before Harrisonburg's City Council on Tuesday.

This group which has been raising funds for a dog park didn't get help from the Council's surplus money.

A member said they wanted to get funds, but they understand there are other worthy causes.

D.D. Dawson said the group wanted to let the council know they're working hard to start the project.

"We are disappointed obviously that wasn't included in the supplemental appropriation but we know that we can continue to work toward getting that fence built. And once we get that fence built on this property, other contributors in the area are gonna see the support of the city and wanna also contribute to the project, Dawson said.

Dawson also told the council if more funds become available to keep the dog park in mind.
