Dollar Tree Vandalism

The Waynesboro Police is requesting assistance in its investigation in an overnight burglary of a Waynesboro business.

WAYNESBORO,Va. (WHSV)-- At 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 4, officers responded to Dollar Tree, at 2715 West Main Street, for a report of a break in.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Aug.3, assailants entered the store by prying open a rear door to the adjacent business space which is vacant and then accessing Dollar Tree.

Waynesboro police later discovered a safe was taken from the business’s office.

The back loading dock entrance was forced open and the safe was removed. Store staff estimate that there was approximately $800 in the safe at the time it was stolen.

Officers and detectives collected physical evidence left at the scene which will be sent off to the Department of Forensic Science.

Anyone with information in this incident is asked to call the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 942-6675 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1(800)322-2017. Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously.

Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
