STUARTS DRAFT, Va. (WHSV) -- A local man is warning neighbors in the Valley about a scam that claims you have won a sweepstakes.

Gary Cummings received a call telling him he won the Liberty Sweeps Takes, but owed taxes on it.

He was given a claim number and also told to go to a website, a fake version of the government accountability organization's real website,

Cummings said the scammer turned up the pressure when he found out Cummings is a veteran.

"That, 'OK, here's a vet who needs money.' And I really took great exception to that. Because I respect vets. I did my service. I don't want a veteran to get ripped off of what few savings he or she actually has," said Cummings.
