Downtown Streetscape Plan Moves Forward

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV)-- Funding requests for the plan will be made through the Capital Improvement Program. The plan includes how downtown Harrisonburg will grow in public access areas, which include sidewalks and biking spaces.

Before the plan was approved, the public also had the opportunity to weigh in through open listening sessions.

"Public feedback has been very positive. We've received a lot of good ideas from citizens through our public input meeting and through the planning commission. Also through the public hearing that we have. we've already implemented those ideas into the plan," said Brad Reed, a transportation planner at the Public Works Department.

The Streetscape plan which began back in January, will now be an ongoing project for the Public Works department.
