Dwell Collaborative Celebrates Grand Opening in Staunton

STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- A new art studio has come to downtown Staunton. Dwell Collaborative, which features artists working together on one painting, celebrated its grand opening Saturday night.

Six artists work together at the new studio. With collaborative art, two to four people work on a painting at once.

They usually work on paintings at concerts or festivals.

Andrew Davis, one of the artists, says this will be a way to see what products they can come up with without a time limit. Plus, Davis says they'll fill a niche in the Queen City.

"It'll add a lot. It definitely has a younger perspective then I think the more traditional art scene that's in Staunton already. It gives people the opportunity to see both the process and the finished work," said Davis.

About 120 people went to the grand opening. In addition to buying paintings at the store, people will be able to watch the artists paint.
