HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Eastern Mennonite University put out an alert Wednesday about an attempted assault on campus.
The alert says it happened on Parkwood drive across from the Parkwood Apartments around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The school says the victim was not harmed.
“Fortunately, there was no physical contact between the suspect and our student. However, in the interest of our students we chose to provide a warning to the campus community and characterized the incident as an 'attempted assault.'" said Eldon Kurtz, the director of physical plant at EMU, "Technically, since there was no physical contact, according to uniform crime reporting the individual can only be listed as a “suspicious” person. Meanwhile, if a suspicious person fitting the description is observed, Harrisonburg Police will be contacted in order to question the individual. While HPD has been actively involved with EMU Campus security in the investigation of the incident, no suspects have been questioned to my knowledge.”
