BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- A $1,000 grant was given to John Wayland Elementary School in Bridgewater Thursday morning. It was from "Project 3," which is a partnership involving WHSV TV-3, local businesses and area schools.
Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative made the donation and chose the winner. The money will be used for TumbleBooks, an online collection of e-books for children.
"We are really excited at John Wayland to get the TumbleBooks subscription, which is e-readers that can be accessed by our children on computer here at school and at home and they can read along with the books. And so it will be a really good bonus for our literacy instruction here at John Wayland," said Sue Haley, a teacher at John Wayland Elementary School.
