The town of Elkton erected two memorials at Elkton Middle School and Stonewall Memorial Park, honoring and memorializing individuals involved in the 9/11 attacks.

The steel beams in the memorials actually came from the World Trade Center Towers.

Those involved in creating the memorials say they're honored to have a piece of history in their town, especially with historic news released late Sunday night.

While they've developed relationships with some of the New York Police Department and NYPD officers, they say it's bittersweet.

"I'm sure it's rewarding for them, you know, it would have to be, but I'm sorry to say that it had to be something so sad for something so good to come out of it," says Donna Mowbrey, who worked on the 9/11 memorials.

Mowbrey says she expects more people to be visiting the memorials this week, after Osama Bin Laden's death.
