HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- An accused bank robber who escaped from a juvenile detention center is responsible for a recent string of crimes, according to the Harrisonburg Police Department.
Rosel Guillen-Mendez, 16, is wanted in connection to a number of crimes in Virginia and Alabama.
In Harrisonburg, he was charged as an adult in the July 1 holdup at the BB&T branch in Harrisonburg.
Surveillance footage showed a masked man robbing the place and after an investigation, Harrisonburg police arrested Guillen-Mendez for the robbery.
He is charged with felony robbery, felony use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, felony entering a bank to commit larceny and felony wearing a mask in public.
Harrisonburg police wants the public to be aware that Guillen-Mendez is still a danger to the public.
Since his escape from a juvenile facility in Staunton, he has been linked to car theft in the Valley and many more crimes in Alabama.
The last sighting of him was on Saturday outside Gordo, Ala.
Anyone with information about Guillen-Mendez should contact police.
