WAYNESBORO -- TV host Dr. Oz is praising David Justino for saving Sian Green's life.
She's a young British woman, hit by a cab that went onto the sidewalk on Tuesday. Some say Justino is a hero.
"Everyone is saying I am, but I am just a guy at work. A girl needed help, I helped her. Hero I don't know," said David Justino, who saved a young woman's life.
The woman who knows him best says that's just the type of man he is.
"He is a very very special person and he has a fabulous quick witted personality," said Penney Hall-Garrison, who is David Justino's mother.
Justino's quick thinking made him use his belt as a tourniquet.
"She would've bled out in less than five minutes if he didn't do what he did," said Hall-Garrison.
The first time Penny-Hall Garrison saw what her son had done she was simply sitting in her living room watching television.
"And I'm sitting here in Virginia and I'm watching my TV and there is my son," said Justino.
Hall-Garrison says although most people may know her son only as "David the Plumber," he also has another job.
"He installs fish tanks in restaurants, upscale restaurants and nursing and hospitals and he maintains them," said Hall-Garrison.
"I'm trying to build a business for my kids so they have a better life," said Justino.
His mom says her son isn't looking for fame, he's just a family man who did the right thing.
"Dr. Oz said to him that I want you to come on the show and David said Dr. Oz, I'll come on the show when this girl could walk on there and dance with me," said Hall-Garrison.
As a result of the accident, Green's left leg had to be amputated.
Justino says he has not seen her since the accident on Tuesday.
He's hoping he will be able to soon.
When Justino is on Dr. OZ, we'll let you know.
