Extra Patrols in Harrisonburg for St. Patrick's Day

The Harrisonburg Police Department will be conducting saturation patrols starting Thursday.

Additional officers will be out on St. Patrick's Day and the patrols will continue through the weekend.

Police offer several tips to stay safe while celebrating:

- Designate a sober driver before going out, call a cab or use public transportation.

- Celebrate with people you know.

- Use a buddy system and make sure you are with at least one other person.

- If driving, be on the look out for pedestrians and bicyclists.

- Call police immediately to report a crime or suspicious activity.

The Harrisonburg Police Department has partnered with Virginia's Smart, Safe and Sober campaign to promote safe and sober driving.
