Family Recovers After A Tree Falls On Their House

GROTTOES, Va. -- James Warr and his son Michael have in Grottoes for almost 15 years.

They were in their trailer when a thunderstorm blew over their neighborhood and that's when they heard a loud noise overhead.

"It sounded like a big thud," said James Warr,

The loud noise was a tree that fell on the side of their home.

"I couldn't even think straight because of all of that being over my end of the trailer and over my bedroom,” said Warr.

Craig Taylor is the owner of Born Again Tree and Landscaping Service and a friend of the family. He says that these kind of incidents are very costly.

"It looks like the wind twisted it, it didn't fall straight, it looked like the wind twisted it to the side and it came right towards the trailer,” said Taylor, "It's going to be around 12 hundred dollars."

Taylor decided to be a good neighbor and give them a discount.

On top of that, their insurance company has put them up in a hotel for now.

Their home may be damaged, but they're say it could’ve been a lot worse.

"at least it didn't take somebody's life, I feel a little bit blessed because at least I'm still here, home can be replaced, stuff can be replaced your body can't be replaced," says Warr.
