Harrisonburg, Va. (WHSV) With a new JMU coach on our hands, fans are excited to see what the future holds for JMU football.

The news of the new coach being hired has been the topic of conversation among people drinking an eating in Downtown Harrisonburg.

They are saying out with Mickey Matthews and in with Everett Withers.

"Thing about Mickey Matthews is there was a little bit of incest with how long he was the University for," said Erik Bailey, who is a JMU student.

Fans like JMU student Erik Bailey are impressed with what he has to bring to the field.

"Withers has more of a robust resume and he's coming from a really dominant program," said Bailey.

After 15 years of the same head football coach, JMU grad Dan Kator said he's looking forward to celebrating more football victories.

"As an alum I'm pretty excited to hopefully get to come back some more and see some winning games," said Kator.

Even though Withers brings fans hope, some are still watching to see what will play out on the field.

"I think at this point we have yet to see what he does to see if it's an improvement," said Bailey.
