WEYERS CAVE, Va. (WHSV) -- Drones made a buzz for farmers in the Valley Friday.

At Precision Farming Field Day, farmers from across the Valley came to learn about drones and other precision technologies they can take back with them on the farm.

Farmers learned that the futuristic technology has already become a big part of farm operations across the country and has some practical applications from some tiny, but powerful parts.

"Some of the technology that you have in your cell phone is now being used in some of these remote controlled and computer controlled aircraft," said Ken Druce, a UAV operator with USSI.

"We're trying to move away from managing a field as one field, and actually divide fields up based on productivity," said Timothy Woodward with Tellus Agronomics.

The event today designed to show farmers that the future of farming is now.
