HARRISONBURG The film industry in Virginia is getting some recognition for record levels of employments.
The report highlights film projects who spent more than $66 million in the state and got more than $11million in incentives. Great news for the commonwealth and for our area. JMU has a film industry minor and digital video major.
You may remember Richmond was the backdrop for the movie Lincoln, and has been the backdrop for several other shows and movies. The report released yesterday says employment has risen 15.7 % since 2011. We spoke to a professor at JMU, to see the impact this will have on students going into the film industry.
"Gives incentives for students who want to get into that media field to stay in the state and not have to venture out into L.A. or New York," says assistant professor Shawn Wright.
