FORT VALLEY –- Shannon Johnson, a service assistant in the Shenandoah County Fire and Rescue department helped to save the lives of three people inside a burning home.

The fire started off of St. David's Church Road at about 7 a.m. Thursday morning. Three people were inside and all made it out safely thanks to Johnson. Two of them were disabled. One of the two was bedridden.

Johnson lives down the road and received a text message about the fire. She raced to help the people inside the burning home. The handicap access ramp at the home was blocked from the fire, but Johnson helped rescue everyone inside.

The three were taken to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
