Harrisonburg, Va. (WHSV) Organizers of this year's holiday parade said despite the forecast expected for Friday, it will still go on as planned.

"The only reason we would be is if there would be a safety issue with the streets. In order to cancel at this time, we would probably lose about half of our entries including JMU and plus other people that would be busy another time," said Lynn Turner, who is the special events coordinator with the City of Harrisonburg.

She said for the past 20 years, she has been helping to put together the parade. During that time, it has never been canceled.

She's hoping this year, the tradition will continue.

If people need shelter Friday, she's hoping they will use restaurants and other businesses along the parade route.
