STAUNTON, Va --- You can now get on the Internet for free at Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton. The city set up a wi-fi connection throughout the park and it is now ready for you to use.

When you try to connect to the wi-fi, you will see 'Staunton Wi-Fi' as one of the networks that pops up on your device. You will be able to bring your laptop or wireless device anywhere throughout the park and go online for free.

Staunton's Technology Chief Officer Kurt Plowman said it was an easy thing to do and it just took about a month to set up. He said Staunton is the only city in the area that has a free wi-fi area. He hopes this will bring more people to the city.

"Should be convenient for anybody living in the city, visitors who are passing through town,” said Plowman. “It's a great place for them to come and spend some time. See a little bit of Staunton as well as being connected, being able to check hotel reservations or dining reservations while they're here or other things they want to see in the area."

Plowman said it will be easy to start other projects like having security cameras in the park with this network.
