AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va -- It's been two weeks since search and rescue teams called off the search for Robert Fitzgerald, a hiker who went missing in Augusta County. Now, his friends are still trying to make sense of his disappearance.

Friends said there are still unofficial search groups looking for him.

Fitzgerald disappeared more than two weeks ago on a hiking trail near Highland County. Neighbors said Fitzgerald had a routine and they said they miss seeing their friend in Gypsy Hill Park.

“For the first week or so, we were all expecting him to show up and have it be a mistake. We're still kind of hoping that's it, you know,” said Dan Nicholson, a friend of Fitzgerald.

Search and rescue teams and the Augusta County Sheriff's Office have no updates on Fitzgerald's disappearance.
