Augusta County - Fort Defiance High School students were dismissed on a 20-minute delay Thursday.

The delay in dismissal was due to a helicopter that had to land in the area of the school. The helicopter was airlifting a patient to the hospital after an incident in Augusta County.

The school says the last bus left around 4 p.m. Thursday. The students are usually dismissed around 3:10 p.m. The school says all students were safely dismissed.

The helicopter was brought in to take the victim of a serious assault and car jacking in Mt. Sidney Thursday afternoon. There is no word on the condition of the victim at this point.

Law enforcement officials confirm the attacker in this case may be connected to the suspect in Wednesday's 7-11 robbery in Rockingham County. Investigators in Augusta County are looking for a Blue 2002 Ford pIckup with Virginia registration XWW-1871.
