WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) -- New security measures have been approved in Waynesboro.
$5,000 has been approved to pay for added security at the Waynesboro Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Clerk's Office.
Currently, an old partition is all that keeps people from crossing to access the clerk or the judge's chambers.
It could simply be stepped over by someone who wanted to reach staff.
The plan is to raise the partition and add a secure door to increase safety.
"Modern court facility design and understanding the world in which we live today, in think risks to our court personnel and court employees is a concern and this is an appropriate use of funds to enhance their safety," said Michael G Hamp II, the Waynesboro city manager.
Hamp said that crossing the partition has not been a problem, but that the added security will keep it from becoming an issue.
