Many organizations have been out and about trying to get out the word to register to vote.

One group tells us that registration has been steady.

But some are taking a unique approach.

Harrisonburg's Royal Gas station Manager Vernon Green is reminding people the deadline to register through gas pumps.

"I believe the people need to care about their responsibility. I think people need to take the time to register and go and vote, it's their responsibility. It's their duty," Greene said.

Green said people have thanked him for informing the people.

October 15 is the deadline to register in Virginia.

October 16 is the deadline to register in West Virginia.

Vernon plans changing the message to remind people to vote on Nov. 6.
