HARRISONBURG,Va. (WHSV)-- This weekend gives families that opportunity to get hooked, on fishing that is.
"It's so awesome to watch little kids when they catch that first fish and they get all excited," said Dubby Car, owner of Dubby's Fishing and Hunting.
Families locally enjoyed fishing at Lake Shenandoah in Rockingham County.
Dubby Carr, who owns a local fishing and hunting shop, said people still need licenses to fish in waters stocked with trout. He recommends that some use flotation devices, especially near high waters.
"Some of the rivers have been up a little bit because of the high water, that water gets swift and you can get yourself in trouble if you're not careful," said Carr.
June 8 is the end of the free fishing weekend sponsored by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
