Good Neighbor Gift Revealed

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- We are kicking off our Good Neighbor Gift project here at WHSV.

We have selected four community projects in 2014. One in Rockingham, Augusta, and Pendleton counties, as well as one in Shenandoah and Page counties.

The first project will be building a new infant care facility at the Roberta Webb Child Care Center in Harrisonburg. It is a non-profit, United Way agency and fees are based on a sliding scale according to income.

The facility will be built by remodeling a current room within the center.

Angela Lawson, the Executive Director of the center, can't wait for the facility to be complete.

"This is a process taking 5 years in the making and when WHSV came on board, not only did they come on board, they're taking the lead. All of us are excited teachers, parents, and we already have a waiting list," said Lawson.

Our corporate partners will be helping to make this project possible as well as Gary Crummett and Sons Construction, Classic Kitchen and Bath and Eagle Carpet.

The goal is to have the project completed by February.

If you want to help, we have organized an equipment and supply drive for the day care center.
