Stuarts Draft, Va. (WHSV) Monday, Gov. Bob McDonnell congratulated the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce for collecting more than 115,000 pounds of food for food banks in Virginia.

It's a part of his friendly competition known as "Governor's Bowl Food & Fund Challenge." The event held at McKee Foods, home of Little Debbie snacks, also featured Representative Bob Goodlatte. McKee foods donated $10,000 to the chamber of commerce, which boosted its success.

"Most places, I go now, it's the last time I'm going to probably be in that area. For a middle class kid like me, from Northern Virginia and raised in a oldest of five, in a military family and I get the same job held by Thomas Jefferson, it's an amazing dream come true. The American Dream is still alive," said McDonnell, counting down to his last days in office.

Some of Governor McDonells' term in office was filled with scandal. This year, an investigation began into his relationship with the company Star Scientific.

His last day in office is Saturday, January 11, 2014.
