HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- A group of people in the Valley completed the popular social media challenge to raise awareness for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Managers from Cline Energy and the Valley's Exxon both dumped ice on themselves and raised money to fight the disease.
With the help of donation jars and the owner, they donated more than $1,600 after dousing themselves.
The ALS Association has raised $31.5 million from July 29 to Aug. 20 of this year. In this same time frame last year, the group only received $1.9 million.
Participants say it's about helping those with the disease.
"Anything that we can do to contribute to research, to coming up with some sort of cure, to prolong the lives of those affected, we are absolutely all for," said Eddie Mozingo, the operations manager at Cline Energy.
The managers challenged Pepsi Cola and Cisco Foods.
