Roanoke County A recent high school graduate in our area says he's continuing to stand up for Virginia's teachers and he hopes others will join him.

Thursday at William Byrd High School in Roanoke County, Chris Howard-Woods and several other students gathered to show their support for the Let Teachers Teach petition.

It calls on localities and even the General Assembly to take another look at those SOLs and how teachers are evaluated.

Howard-Woods was William Byrd's valedictorian this year and got a lot of applause when speaking about the issue.
