HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Virginia Organizing will be in front of Congressman Bob Goodlatte's office for a press conference on Monday.
They will be delivering a petition in support of immigration reform.
According to the group's organizer Isabel Castillo, they say that reform is the best chance for Congress to "redeem itself for the government shutdown."
Dr. Bob Roberts, a James Madison University Political Analyst, said that won't happen and it's a different issue completely.
Dr. Roberts said there's no support in the House for the Senate's bipartisan immigration bill they passed earlier this fall.
"It would lead to primary challenges so the Republican party is much like it was over Obamacare. It's split over, it's split badly over immigration. The business wing of the Republican party wants it, but the Tea Party wing, the Conservative wing does not want it," said Dr. Roberts.
The press conference by Virginia Organizing will be at noon on Monday.
