A non-profit group is trying to raise awareness about women's rights during childbirth with a movie. The film called “Freedom of Birth” looks at global human rights abuses. The goal is to let women know about all of their options.

The group is called “Birth Matters Virginia.” They want women all around the world to have the right to decide where and how they give birth.

“They're calling for women to have the freedom to make their own choices with how they birth. Whether that is to birth in a hospital or to birth at home, and in a hospital, to be able to decline certain procedures,” said Jennifer McManus, chapter leader of Birthing Matters Virginia.

The group showed the movie Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Church of Christ in Fishersville.
