HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- You may have noticed the flowers and paint at the parking deck on Elizabeth Street in Harrisonburg. It's part of Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance's beautification projects.

With a little more than $4,000 of private funds, the group also wants to add banners promoting the city to the Water Street deck.

Supporters say it adds to work the city is doing through the streetscape project.

"Part of a vibrant downtown involves beautification. And the efforts and part of Downtown Renaissance is to complement those two initiatives with signage, with improvements to the parking decks," said Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance Executive Director Eddie Bumbaugh.

They also proposed changing signs to show people where to park after 5 p.m., since the deck can get crowded.
