HAMPTON, Va. (AP) -- Hampton police are hoping the public will help them solve the 1989 slaying of a woman.
Three construction workers found the body of 29-year-old Theresa Howell in a wooded area on July 1, 1989. Police say Howell was last seen outside a club that later closed.
Detective Randy Mayer tells WAVY-TV that he believes Howell knew the person who killed her. He says the most difficult aspect of the case is finding witnesses who are still alive.
Police are hoping to receive more tips. Mayer says even the smallest detail would be helpful.
Neal Carothers lived next door to Howell's apartment. He says her death still bothers him.
