Harrisonburg Auxiliary Police Graduation

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV)-- The Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) welcomed six graduation Auxiliary Police officers June 2. The Harrisonburg Auxiliary Police is a volunteer group of citizens who live or work in the City of Harrisonburg and provide additional assistance to HPD.

The auxiliary is divided into two sections, Patrol and Administrative, and are trained according to the needs in each section.

Since this program started back in 2002 these Auxiliary Officers have worked the equivalent of $1.4 million in volunteer services for the City of Harrisonburg.

Six officers graduated June 2 after going through roughly nine months of training.
