HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- A Harrisonburg church has bought a building to welcome more children to its church on Sundays.

The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church bought a building across the street from the church for $725,00.

It is currently the probation office; however, soon it will house classrooms for kids' religious education.

The church has 16 classrooms, some in the church and others at a rented space.

The church usually has up to 600 children fill these rooms on Sundays.

"You have to start with one step at a time. If we don't do that, the children are becoming more and more, then we have more problems," said Rev. Silvio Kaberia, a pastor at Blessed Sacrament Church.

The extra space will also house the food pantry.

Right now the area is a rented space across the street and the church will use the building starting this fall.
