HARRISONBURG, VA--- Harrisonburg City Council passes a budget that will give Harrisonburg City Schools its entire request for funding. Harrisonburg City Schools Superintendent Scott Kizner says the district can receive $222,000 extra in state dollars if it increases its student body by 50 next year.
Kizner believes his district will meet this requirement. Kizner is thankful for the choice and help City Council is providing and feels confident the budget will meet the needs of our community adding "With additional state money and what City Council did Tuesday night that will bring us to the amount in which the school board adopted their budget so we will not see any cuts at this time."
The School system will be able to keep all current school programs, continue to hire teachers and meet the needs of struggling children.
Dr. Kizner expects to hear from the State about its funding soon.
We will continue to follow this story and bring you any updates as they become available.
