Harrisonburg Named Best Beer Town

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - Harrisonburg is now the best beer town, according to Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine.

After thousands of votes, Harrisonburg beat out other cities with multiple breweries such as Asheville, N.C. Three Brothers Brewing is the only brewery within city limits, but the local craft beer scene does not stop there. There's also Capital Ale House and Downtown Wine and Gourmet.

Adam Shifflett, co-owner of Three Brothers Brewery, said this award highlights a community effort.

"The thing that separates Harrisonburg is the relationship that our brewery has with the restaurants and the relationships that the restaurants have with each other so that it's an actual community instead of every man for himself," Shifflett said.

Shifflett also said craft beer enthusiasts and home brewers should get credit as well.
