HARRISONBURG--- A grant was approved for the Harrisonburg Police Department to keep you safer while on the road. The grant will provide the department with an additional $35,000.
The grant was awarded through the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles for transportation safety. It's purpose is to help officers enforce speed laws, DWI stops, and seat belt enforcement.
The grant will also help fund other traffic related activities throughout the year.
"It increases traffic safety for the entire community and reduces traffic accidents and provides safer roads," said Harrisonburg Police Chief Stephen Monticelli.
