HARRISONBURG,Va. (WHSV) -- A new look may be coming to the south entrance to Downtown Harrisonburg.
A completely new municipal building is being designed and construction could begin as soon as next spring.
When driving into downtown, people are currently greeted by the side of the building.
The new building will be built right beside the old building and will face oncoming traffic.
It will house many city offices including City Council Chambers and the Treasurer.
John Mather, the lead architect, said the design of this building is important because it will be around for years to come.
"We wanted to create a project that makes a statement about our town and is an enhancement to the streetscape and the downtown which is a beautiful area," said Mather.
According to Mather, the final design for the new building should be approved by the end of the year with a ground breaking in the spring.
