HARRISONBURG, Va. ----Harrisonburg Tourism unveiled a sculpture popular in the commonwealth on Saturday.
Virginia's State Tourism motto is Virginia for Lovers. Several places around the commonwealth have sculptures with the word "Love" in it.
People will be able to see the sculpture displayed near the Turner Pavillion for at least a year.
Nicole Martorana, Mike Herr and Jeffrey Guinn created the sculpture, highlighting an aspect of the city in each word.
According to Guinn, the "L" represents Harrisonburg's multicultural heritage. The "O" shows its agricultural heritage. The "V" is for outdoor recreation and the "E" showcases the arts.
He said he hopes people share the picture on social media, attracting more tourists.
For Guinn, he is proud to be part of the project.
"It's a great honor to be part of this, having grown up here and being an artist. It is great to be able to contribute something that is representative of everyone here and also be involved myself," said Guinn.
He said companies from the area donated the materials. Virginia tourism will help Harrisonburg Tourism with part of the cost of the sculpture.
