HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Harrisonburg may have another title to draw visitors looking for good brews to the city in a few months.

The Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine is holding its second annual Best Mountains Town Poll.

Harrisonburg is in the running for the best beer town.

Harrisonburg Tourism's Public Relations Specialist Katey Warren said new breweries, like Three Brothers Brewing, set the city apart.

Right now, the city is in the lead at 44% and Asheville is the closest at 23 percent.

Warren said even being featured as a competitor is special.

"We're really becoming this foodie destination, we have so many local farm to table restaurants as well as international cuisine. Since 3 brothers started it's really set off us being a beer destination we already had a lot of support for our local brewers but having one just down the street from us is such a huge asset," said Warren.

There are 12 different areas competing, including Roanoke, Nellysford and Asheville, North Carolina.

Warren said the voting is open until September, so while Harrisonburg has the lead now that could change.
