HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- The Public Works Department is coordinating the annual paving schedule with the selected contractor, Adams Construction Company of Harrisonburg.

Crews will be milling and repaving Vine Street, from Old Furnace Road to Country Club Road, Wednesday starting at 7 a.m. Work is anticipated to be complete by Wednesday evening.

During the paving, Vine Street will be closed to through traffic. Only residential traffic will be allowed to access this portion of the roadway, along with emergency vehicles and transit and school buses. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes while the paving takes place.

The milling operation consists of removing approximately one and a half to two inches of old pavement and replacing it with new asphalt. Both the milling and repaving will take place Wednesday on Vine Street.

The annual paving started at the end of March and should be complete by fall.
