The Harrisonburg Police Department is searching for two men who allegedly robbed a Medicap Pharmacy at 1851 Virginia Ave. at gunpoint Saturday afternoon.

Mel Anderson, who owns and manages the store, said he didn't suspect anything when two men initially walked into his pharmacy.

"You think, oh, I hope that never happens to me. You think the chances are going to be small," Anderson said.

Anderson said the men initially asked him questions about medicine while leading him to the back of the store.

Once they reached the back of the store, Anderson said, one of the men pointed a gun in his face and demanded painkillers.

"It's terrifying, because you don't know what's going through that person's mind," Anderson said. "You have no idea if this person's going to shoot me, or do they just want drugs?"

Anderson said the men forced him to a back room and tied him up with zip ties.

Another employee, who was not tied up, managed to set off a silent alarm to alert police.

Anderson said the men left with an armful of painkillers, including Oxycodone.

Anderson said he felt violated after they left.

"You get angry, that someone would do that, would violate your trust and come into your place of business," Anderson said.

Anderson said adrenaline and motivation has kept his spirits up on Saturday.

"Just the fact that I'm safe, I'm just thankful that I'm OK and that my technician's OK," Anderson said.

Anderson said he might add more security cameras for added safety.

No one was injured during the incident.

Both offenders are described as white males in their early 20's. One male was seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and the other male was wearing a hooded jacket.

Police are looking for a dark-colored Mercury Mariner with a license plate of XNH-3462.
