Haunted Ghost Tour Reveals Harrisonburg's Haunted History

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Downtown Harrisonburg is known to have a lot of history, but what about its haunted history? As it turns out, there are a lot of unexplained mysteries that don't necessarily make the guide books.

The Hardesty-Higgins House Visitor Center, one of the oldest buildings in Downtown Harrisonburg, is one of the buildings said to be haunted.

Lisa Ha, former employee of the Higgins House, said it is common for the internet connections to die or phone lines to go down.

Even stranger, she said the lights in the attic will often turn on and off. Ha said this is a strange occurrence because nobody ever goes up there.

"The attic, which is still in its 1850s state, has a light in the attic that will go on and off, even when nobody ever goes up there. It is just held for storage. So, we like to think that is where the ghosts are hanging out," said Ha.

If you want to hear more about the town's haunted history, Halloween night is the final Harrisonburg Haunted Ghost Tour. The event lasts for approximately one hour.

People will be gathering outside the Hardesty-Higgins House at 9 p.m.
