Helicopter Called in for Motorcycle Accident

Rockingham County -- UPDATE: 7/12/2014 4:30 p.m.
The driver of the motorcycle from Pennsylvania has been air lifted from the scene. A Shenandoah National Park official says he took a curve too sharply on Skyline Drive when the accident happened.

The driver landed near a ditch on the side of the road. He was taken by ambulance to the helicopter with a broken leg, hurt wrist, and damage to his teeth.

The park official said five to ten accidents have already happened at the curve where Saturdays crash happened.

Saturday's crash happened around 2:30 p.m.


A helicopter has been called in for a motorcycle crash on Skyline Drive.

The crash is reported near milepost 62 of Skyline Drive.

Dispatchers say a helicopter is on the way to the scene. A landing zone is being set up near the Swift Run Gap Entrance to Skyline Drive. There is no word on the cause of the crash of the extent of injuries.
