Two Fort Defiance High School players were sent to the hospital Friday night during their game. They were hit hard by other players, but when is a hit too hard when it comes to football?

Other players knelt down to pray for the injured players as they were carried to the ambulance in stretchers.

Fort Defiance Athletic Director Gordon Johnston says there are rules on where players can hit each other, but when it comes to football, these incidents are bound to happen.

"It's the nature of football, it's the way football is, the rules and so forth, you have to be physical and you have to play hard," said Johnston. "And actually, if you don't play hard, the chances of getting hurt are worse than if you play hard."

Johnston says the players do training to learn ways to prevent themselves from getting badly injured.

The students that were hurt Friday are suffering from minor injuries and will be back in the field in no time.
