The Hog Rally Brings a Boost to Local Businesses

HARRISONBURG,Va. (WHSV)-- A boost to our economy is brought in this weekend from hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts.

Over 1,000 motorcycle riders have headed into the Shenandoah Valley for the weekend.

The Harrisonburg Holiday Inn, located just off Interstate 81 is serving as the host hotel for the Hog Rally.

The rooms are completely booked with people attending the rally this week.

One part of the hotel that is benefitting this week is the restaurant. They normally aren't open for lunch, but changed that just for the event.

The bikers said they are glad to be here and that they love the views of the mountains around town.

Brenda Zirkle, the Director of Sales at the Holiday Inn, said she couldn't be happier to have them here.

"It's been good for business, the restaurant, they've done a lot in the restaurant. They're a great group, and it's been a great time having them," said Zirkle.

She estimates a revenue of at least $40,000 just from the rally with more more money still coming in.

The event coordinator said the rally brings a whopping $2.5 million in revenue to the local economy.
