HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Holiday travel and winter weather can be a dangerous combination.
Chris Grefe, a driving instructor for Blazer Driving Academy, recommends driving as little as possible in wintry weather, especially if it's icy.
He said, if you are planning on driving over the holiday, the biggest thing is to slow down and brake earlier. He said it is key to leave more distance between yourself and the car ahead of you.
Grefe said driving on the major roads are your best bet because they have already been pre-treated.
"Just take it easy and drive as little as possible. Snow isn't too bad, but if you are talking about driving in ice, once you start losing control, you have no control of the car," said Grefe.
