How to Protect Yourself From Hackers

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV)-- Email phishing scams can lead hackers to important information like bank account numbers, credit card information, etc.

Here are some tips on how you can keep your personal information protected:

-Beware of clicking on ads that are not proved trusted links, if it goes into your spam box, it's most likely there for a reason.

-Also, check the grammar used. Does the email 'scream' at you in all caps, or use strange symbols like &&&!!#$%^? This most likely means it's a scam.

-Don't forget that it doesn't matter how many times you change your password. Hackers can still see when you change it.

-Never download an attachment unless you are sure it is legitimate.
